‘Entre dos aguas’

Cinema made in Barcelona at this year’s Pantalla Barcelona

Civic centres will be screening films made, filmed or produced in the city for free.

Barcelona is a highly cinematographic city, and not only because it has loads of cinemas and screens. Many films are also made, filmed and produced here. To raise awareness of these films among residents, the Barcelona Institute of Culture and Barcelona Film Commission host Pantalla Barcelona, which is now in its fourth year. For two-and-a-half months, civic centres all over the city will be screening the latest short and feature-length films. Some of them have been at the top film festivals, like D’A Film Festival, L’Alternativa, El Dia Més Curt, Inclús and Mecal, so the collaboration of the Catalan Film Academy and Catalunya Film Festivals is key. Some of the feature films that will be screened at the festival include At Your Doorstep, Facing the Wind, Petra, Figures, Journey to a Mother’s Room and Down n’hi do: la càmera ballarina, among many others. The selection of shorts is also important, with pieces like Nitbus, Paral·lel 10, Suc de síndria, Vaca, A mitges and Soleá: els néts dels altres catalans.

All of the screenings will be held on various days and at various times from 3 October to 10 January. The civic centres hosting this year’s Pantalla Barcelona events are Can Basté, Pati Llimona, Can Clariana Cultural, Casa Groga, la Sagrera “La Barraca”, Can Felipa and Ateneu Fort Pienc.

All of the festival events are free to everyone and you don’t have to book ahead. More information is available on the Pantalla Barcelona website.
