Social and cultural debates at La Pedrera in June

The 'Action and Reflection' cycle will tackle issue like ageing, young talent and platforms for cooperation and economy.

Action and Reflection, a cycle organised by Fundació Catalunya - La Pedrera within the framework of Conversations at La Pedrera, will be celebrating its ninth edition in June in the incomparable setting of a building designed by Antoni Gaudí. It includes four debate sessions on social and cultural issues featuring important personalities in Catalonia.

Landscape and cultural identity is the title of the first session, which is scheduled for Tuesday 6 June and will feature Joan Nogué, Professor of Human Geography at the University of Girona and director of the Observatory of the Catalan Landscape for 12 years, together with Francesc Serès, a writer and professor who is based in the Garrotxa region. Journalist Joan Morales will be in the moderator's chair. The following week, on Monday 12 June, another journalist, Antoni Bassas, will be moderating a debate on Young talent, today featuring Samuel Sánchez, ICREA research professor at the Catalan Biotechnological Institute (IBEC) and Doctor of Chenistry by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and Ivan Bruque, co-organiser of TEDxYouth @ Barcelona and co-curator of the exhibition Young Talent in Barcelona 2015.

Eight days later, journalist, writer and theatre director Elisenda Roca will chair a debate featuring Mercè Boada, founder and medical director of the Fundació ACE, and Josep Santacreu, who graduated in Medicine from the UAB and holds a doctorate in Business Management from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). The subject for debate on this occasion is Aware Ageing. The cycle is scheduled to conclude on 28 June with Ignasi Carreras, who holds a title in industrial engineering from the UPC and a diploma in Business Management from EAE, and multimedia engineer Albert Cañigueral, who will tackle the issue of collaboration platforms and economy. Their discussion will be moderated by Albert Closas, who is the director and presenter of TV3 programme Valor afegit.
