Ús Barcelona celebrates its second edition

On the 8th and 9th of May the public space art festival will revitalise Carrer de Pere IV with artistic interventions, performances, music, art markets, workshops and gastronomy

The second week of May will see the return of Ús Barcelona, the public space art festival that, on this occasion, will take place on Carrer de Pere IV, between Carrer Fluvià and Carrer Selva de Mar. The festival is designed to reveal the potential of unused urban spaces, hence its name, Ús. The idea is to bring back into use and revitalise certain parts of the city by means of two full days of street mural painting, artistic performances, hands-on workshops, conferences, gastronomy, music and an arts market.

The live artistic interventions will include the richly contrasting works of Zenta, the mural paintings of Ótica, the naturalism of Crisa, the stencilled collages of Mateo, the coloured forms of Labuenaylamala, Núrica Toll’s geometric birds and the graffiti stylings of El Xupet Negre.  Other live performances will include the Les Filles Föllen dance production and the fusion of art and technology offered by Ciclo.

Along the same lines, other programmed activities include a percussion jam session, Drum Circle, numerous conferences and round table debates concerning the revitalisation of Carrer Pere IV and the Poblenou district and the ‘impossible spaces and creative vandalism’ of Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, among many other activities. Two days, then, in which to experience the vibrancy and creativity of street art and culture.
