Autumn tours at Casa Vicens

This was the first significant work by the architect Antoni Gaudí and throughout the autumn they are organising different types of experiences so that you can discover it.

2017 will go down in architectural history as the year that the first house and significant work by Antoni Gaudí, Casa Vicens, opened its doors to the public. When you visit it, you see his hallmarks and style up close, which is why it is considered the starting point of his career. Throughout the autumn, they are still organising various tours through the house so that everyone can discover this architectural gem that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. The building was constructed between 1883 and 1885 as a commission for Manuel Vicens i Montaner, a rich businessman who wanted a summer home in Gràcia. Therefore, it’s thanks to him that we have one of the first master pieces of Modernisme, which laid the groundwork for Gaudí’s subsequent work, a living example of the winds of aesthetic change that were blowing across fin-de-siècle Europe.

In autumn, guided tours of Casa Vicens run every day from 10 am to 7 pm, until 15 December. There are various experiences you can take part in to discover the building. For example, you can do Autumn Vicens, which allows you to do a self-guided tour of the house and includes a sweet or savoury snack in the garden. There are also classical self-guided tours, like the other ones but without the snack. If you want really in-depth information about Gaudí’s work, you can sign up for the guided tours, where highly qualified guides will explain all of the details.

Tours cost between €16 and €21, depending on the type that you want to do. You can find all of the information on Casa Vicens website.
