Montjuïc Castle

Discover everything hidden in Montjuïc Castle

El Sortidor civic centre is organising a tour of the building that sits at the top of Montjuïc.

There is a building that, although not visible from everywhere in Barcelona, looks out over the city from a very special spot: Montjuïc Castle. The historic fort, high above the mountain of Montjuïc, offers 360-degree views, some of the best in the city. It is a monumental site with loads of history, and hearing about it helps enrich our knowledge of the city we live in. The El Sortidor civic centre, located right in the heart of Poble Sec, has organised a tour to share the secrets lurking behind the walls of Montjuïc Castle. The visit won’t only be about history, but it will also admire the fact that the castle sits above a natural park full of gardens, fountains, museums and all sorts of facilities for public use. Accompanied by an expert, we’ll discover the origins of the building and its relationship to the city throughout its history.  So, it’s almost as if the castle is our host, telling us about its own history and helping us discover more about the mountain and Barcelona in general.

The tour of Montjuïc Castle will be on Wednesday 29 May at 6:30 pm.

Despite being a free activity, anyone interested should sign up first at the El Sortidor civic centre or by email: ccelsortidor@bcn.cat. More information is available on the centre’s website.
