Discovering the Sea
With the aim of promoting education about the sea and the coast in the city of Barcelona, Escoles + Sostenibles, through the Mirada Blava project, are launching the second edition of this training.
Coastal cities around the world are disconnected from the importance of the sea for human life and the effects that human activity has on this environment. It is crucial, in this context of climate crisis, to have a space to reflect on and understand how this interdependence works and how to improve this relationship. Educational centers become an essential transformative agent in this task, which will determine the future relationship of students with this nearby environment.
Objectives:
- To learn about the current environmental challenges facing the seas and the oceans and how they affect the day-to-day lives of people living in coastal cities.
- To empower the educational community to work on these topics in the classroom.
- To get the school’s educational community involved in initiatives to improve the relationship between cities and the sea.
- To share the experiences of other schools and organisations working in this field.
