Miquel Curanta i Girona

Miquel Curanta i Girona (Pals, 1977) has had a distinguished career in the field of cultural management, communication and technological innovation applied to the media. With almost thirty years of experience, he has led strategic projects in the public and private sectors, with a perspective focused on digital transformation, local culture and the development of creative ecosystems.

Since January 2025, he has directed Ràdio Capital de l’Empordà and Taronja Ràdio Girona, two broadcasters with a clear local and cultural mission. He also works as an audiovisual producer, media adviser and consultant for tech-based companies. Furthermore, he is the co-founder of Rigora Labs, a company specialising in developing artificial intelligence systems applied to publishing and media news processes.

He has served as the director of the Fundació Barcelona Music Lab, a pioneering organisation devoted to innovation, sustainability and technology within the music industry. During that period, he solidified its structure, defined its strategic plan and spearheaded high-impact projects, including the acceleration programme for emerging companies, meetings between research centres and investors, and a conference on music, AI and intellectual property.

From 2018 to 2022, he directed the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC), where he drove a historical budget increase, led recovery plans for cultural companies in the wake of COVID, created an institutional brand and reformulated policies to support cultural enterprises. He was also the driving force behind the Catalunya Media City audiovisual hub, a strategic project to position Catalonia’s audiovisual sector on the global stage.

Prior to this, he directed Club TR3SC, which reached 43,000 members and rolled out intense cultural and communicative activities. He has also been associated with radio and TV from the start of his career, with experience in production, team management, advertising creativity and content development.

With his training in communication, marketing and cultural management, Curanta is an active voice in debates about culture, digital transformation and the media, and regularly participates in professional conferences and industry forums around the country.
