Executive Committee Composition


The Executive Committee, chaired by the Vice-president of the Council and formed by a further six members (all designated by the Plenary from amongst the members of recognised worth), and which operates completely independently, is the body that exercises the Council’s executive powers.

Executive Committee Functions

The functions of Barcelona Council of Culture’s Executive Committee are as follows:

a) To issue mandatory reports, either at its own initiative or at the request of the Plenary, on:

  • The establishment of new municipal cultural bodies or facilities.
  • Municipal legislative or regulatory plans that affect cultural or art policy.
  • The appointment of directors of municipal cultural bodies or facilities.

b) To participate in awarding cultural grants under Barcelona City Council’s regulatory framework for grants.

c) To propose the members of the juries for the City of Barcelona Prizes.

d) Any other functions expressly assigned by the Barcelona Council of Culture Plenary.
