Edgar Cotes
Edgar Cotes, born in Balaguer in 1997, is a translator and a copy editor, and works subtitling live-broadcast programmes for TV3. At just 20 years old, he published the flash fiction collection Els híbrids minvants [The Waning Hybrids], followed by the novel Cordegel and the essay Manuel de Pedrolo: punt final [Manuel de Pedrolo: full stop]. His supernatural horror novel Un àngel cruel [A Cruel Angel] won the Breakthrough Prize at the 42 Festival and the Ictineu Award from the Catalan Science Fiction and Fantasy Society for Best Novel. He recently made his grimdark fantasy début with Etern, com el laberint [Eternal, Like the Labyrinth]. He has translated authors such as H. P. Lovecraft, Mary Shelley, Mike Resnick and Adrian Tchaikovsky into Catalan, and co-hosts Esperant el cometa, a podcast on fantasy genres.
