Emili Bayo Juan, born in Lleida in 1961, holds a doctorate in Spanish literature and has taught at both secondary school and university level. A columnist, literary critic and sports commentator, his works include novels and short-story collections such as L’edat de les paraules [The Age of Words] (Llorenç Villalonga Prize), Puta pasta [Bloody Money] (Crims de Tinta Prize) and Prop de les bombes [Close to the Bombs] (Gran Angular Prize). In 1992, he published the first Guia de lectura de Jesús Moncada [Jesús Moncada Reading Guide] with Mercè Biosca.
