Tribute to Jesús Moncada
This year will mark 20 years since the death of Jesús Moncada, an author who made intriguing forays into fantasy genres and was even mentored by Pere Calders. Though he is best known for the historical novel Camí de Sirga [translated into English as The Towpath], with a new edition published recently to mark the anniversary, Moncada expored non-mimetic genres in the anthology Històries de la mà esquerra (with foreword by Calders), with stories such as Revenja per a un difunt, Aniversari, Debat d’urgència and Història de dies senars. The way Moncada deftly and naturally recounted extraordinary happenings made him one of the leading authors of his time. For this reason, 42 Festival – in collaboration with AELC – is paying tribute to the author alongside connoisseurs of his work: the journalist and writer Xavier Moret, the publisher and translator Maria Bohigas and the co-author of the first Guia de lectura de Jesús Moncada, Emili Bayo.
