From Ithaca to Penelope: Claire North and legends from a female perspective
Like history, mythology tends to be narrated from a predominantly male perspective. At a time when the spectrum of the filter on reality has been expanded, women authors such as Claire North have decided to rewrite classical fiction from a female point of view. The Songs of Penelope trilogy gives a voice to this character from Greek mythology and to the women and goddesses that surround her as she waits for her beloved Ulysses to return. The last book in the saga, The Last Song of Penelope, has just been published in Spanish by the Trini Vergara publishing house, meaning that now is a great time to talk to the author, who has earned accolades such as the John W. Campbell Memorial Award and nominations for the Arthur C. Clarke and World Fantasy awards. The unique author, whose Notes from the Burning Age has just been translated into Catalan, will talk with Daniel Pérez Castrillón to take stock of her career a decade after publishing The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.
