Miquel Cabal Guarro (Barcelona, 1977) is a literary translator and lecturer at the Slavic Section of the University of Barcelona. He holds a degree in Slavic Philology and a PhD in Linguistics. He has published over fifty literary translations of prose and theatre from Russian into Catalan of authors like Anna Starobinets, Andrey Platonov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, Anton Chekhov and Sergei Dovlatov, and has been awarded the Tarragona City Prize and the Barcelona City Prize on Translation. He is a board officer of the European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations, acting as a delegate of the Association of Writers in Catalan Language. He is currently researching in the sociolinguistics of literary translation.
