Phantoms and condemned souls: The great Spanish mythology of ghosts
The richness of Spanish mythology is both widely known and, often, largely forgotten. In his long-awaited first talk/workshop at 42, the popular author and communicator specialising in this subject Javier Prado will be focusing on a specific aspect of Spain’s folklore: legends about apparitions and ghosts all over the peninsula and the country’s islands. Haunted houses, tormented souls, cursed priests, diabolical horsemen, ghostly animals and many other inhabitants of the afterlife will come together in this talk, in which we will discover the most supernatural side of beliefs and folklore that have never really left us. Prado is coming to the 42 Festival having written and illustrated books like Monstruos ibéricos: Ogros y asustaniños españoles (Maldragón), an overview of the scariest beings in the Spanish fantastical tradition, and Breve viaje por la España de las brujas (cowritten with Clara Dies, Sugaar Editorial), which won two Ignotus Awards.
