Rubén Sánchez Trigos

Rubén Sánchez Trigos, born in Madrid in 1979, holds a PhD in audiovisual communication with a thesis on Spanish horror cinema, and is a university professor, writer and screenwriter. As a theorist, he specialises in Spanish fantasy and horror fiction, and has published extensively on the subject in works such as Historia de lo fantástico en la cultura española contemporánea (1900–2015) [A History of the Fantastic in Contemporary Spanish Culture (1900–2015)], Historia de la ciencia ficción en la cultura española [A History of Science Fiction in Spanish Culture] and Cine fantástico y de terror español [Spanish Fantasy and Horror Cinema]. Alongside Javier Trigales and Raúl Cerezo, he co-wrote the feature film Viejos [The Elderly], winner of the Pitchbox Award at the Sitges International Fantasy Film Festival of Catalonia. He is also the author of the horror novels Los huéspedes [The Guests] (a finalist for the Drakul Novel Prize), Bajo el barro [Beneath the Mud] and the recent Vuelve a mí [Come Back to Me].
