Flamenco Queer + Teknodrag

  • Escena híbrida

Molinex

A real declaration of intent to celebrate the diversity proposed by this series of performances. Drag art and performance are tools for exploring flamenco and challenging the categorisation of dissident sexualities.

The show Flamenco Queer is a representation of identity inside and outside flamenco. It explores the most jondo styles of flamenco dance, song and guitar through a contemporary narrative and aesthetic, and makes clear the personal link between flamenco and queer and popular culture. The strength of the project also lies in the multidisciplinary group of artists who collaborate in it. Their performances combine elements of drag and performance with baile, cante, toque and palmas.

Lyn Diniz, Luciana Chieregati, Feña Celedon and Sara Manubens make up the queer artists collective Teknodrag. They approach drag performance in a critical, unbridled and constantly transforming way. And they work with what they call 'drag technology': a series of artistic tools that create vital experiences such as migration and transgenderism in order to expand the practice of drag as an artistic, political and affective device that sticks a middle finger up to cisgender hegemony.

Molinex is a celebration of diversity through performativity linked to the performing arts, music, performance and rescuing memory. As part of the Barcelona Grec 2022 Festival, this is a “queer” rogue’s offering With El Molino as the stage and El Paral·lel as the context.

A Grec Festival 2022 co-production.
