Green light from the Full Council to reactivate commerce in Travessera de Dalt

The Full Council has given its final approval for the change to the usage plan for Gràcia in the area around Travessera de Dalt, which will enable new shops and restaurants to open there while preserving environmental quality and a balance with the quality of life of local people.

The change means new licences can be issued for restaurants, shops selling ready-made meals, food shops with tastings and music venues, providing they meet the general criteria set out for the area in the usage plan. These are:

  • Restaurants and bars, shops selling ready-made meals and food shops with tastings, complying with the criteria on density as defined by the current usage plan.
  • Music establishments, with a maximum usable floor space of 150 square metres and a minimum distance of 200 metres between establishments.

At the same time, no licences will be issued for venues featuring sexual displays or those which fall under special regimes. The document, unchallenged during its public scrutiny period, was approved unanimously by the Full Council.

The change only affects the area around Travessera de Dalt. The uses established in the 2016 plan are unchanged for the rest of the district, as is the specific protection for the centre of the Vila de Gràcia neighbourhood as the most saturated part of the district.
