Eleventh edition of the Espais C programme

With the main aim of normalising the presence of contemporary creation in schools and fostering collaborative processes linking students, teachers and artists, this edition has five art residencies in publicly operated schools, with five mediation teams.

The Espais C programme continues to transform the usual relationships between schools and cultural centres, reaffirming the cultural dimension of the school and the educational dimension of the museum through long-term art residencies in publicly operated schools.

In the 2025-2026 edition, the programme will consist of these schools, artists and mediation teams from arts centres:

  • Lorena Ruiz Pellicero, at the Espai C in the Institut Escola Mestre Morera. With mediation from the Fundació Suñol.
  • Martina Manyà Vintró, at the Espai C in the Escola Miralletes. With mediation from the Museu Tàpies.
  • Ricardo Cárdenas, at the Espai C in the Escola Els Porxos. With mediation from Hangar.
  • Michael Lawton, at the Espai C in the Escola dels Encants. With mediation from the Centre d’Art La Capella.
  • Març Rabal, at the Espai C in the Escola Jacint Verdaguer. With mediation from Chiquita Room.

Since it was started during the 2015-2016 school year, the Espais C programme has seen 16 schools, 41 artists and six mediation teams take part, consolidating it as a leading programme in the intersection of education and contemporary creation.

Espais C is a programme by the Barcelona Institute of Culture and the Barcelona Education Consortium, created jointly with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The programme has been coordinated by EART since 2021.
