The public transport network for the Barcelona Metropolitan Area will be extending its services for the 2021 La Mercè festivities, which will take place from Thursday 23 September until Sunday 26 September.

To adapt supply to the increased demand seen during the festivities, the various operators that serve the city (TMB, FGC, TRAM, Rodalies de Catalunya and Nitbus, AMB’s metropolitan night bus network) will be bolstering their services, many of them offering an uninterrupted service all night during the festival.

Public transport is the best option for moving around the city of Barcelona and the metropolitan area in this period.

All-night metro service

The metro service will be provided without interruption, all night on Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 September.

In other words, the metro will be running from 5 am on Thursday 23 September until 12 midnight on Sunday 25 September.

Furthermore, it will run more frequently from 10 pm, especially L4.

As for bus services, the 150 route (Pl. Espanya – Castell de Montjuïc) will be bolstered with additional buses on 25 and 26 September from 10 am until 8 pm, while a special service will be provided between Lluís Companys Stadium and Plaça d’Espanya on 23, 24 and 25 September between 9 pm and 1:30 am, and on 26 September between 9 pm and 11 pm.

Reinforcements on urban FGC lines

FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) will bolster its urban lines (L6, L7, L8, L12) with an uninterrupted all-night service on Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 September, with a frequency of every 20 minutes.

TRAM

The TRAM service will run without interruptions on lines T2, T3, T4 and T5, from 5 am on Thursday 23 September until 12 midnight on Sunday 26.

On the Trambesòs, between 2 am and 5 am, trams will pass every 20 minutes on line T4, and every 30 minutes on line T5. On the Trambaix, trams will pass every 15 minutes on the main trunk. Services on the T1 and T6 lines will operate with their usual timetable.

Rodalies de Catalunya train lines

Meanwhile, Rodalies de Catalunya will offer a public holiday service on all lines on Friday 24 September, while regional lines will operate with the same service as a regular working day.

Nitbus

The Nitbus, AMB’s metropolitan night bus network, which serves Barcelona and 17 other municipalities in the metropolitan area, will run more buses to cater to the areas and times of night where there may be more passengers or specific transport needs.

Please remember that it is still mandatory to wear a face mask on public transport.
