Half a million thanks for the efforts of the educational community

The Education Consortium has started the campaign #Migmiliódagraïments (half a million thanks) with the support of the 22 organisations making up the Municipal Education Board. The campaign recognises the effort, spirit of collaboration and leadership of all the city’s schools, which has enabled them to stay open despite the Covid-19 restrictions.

The first term of an exceptional school year is coming to an end with the city’s 900 schools open, thanks to the involvement of the entire educational community in adapting to the new measures to stop infections from spreading.

Management teams, teaching staff, educational support staff and PAS personnel (administrative and service staff), the service for concierges, cooking, cleaning, maintenance and monitors, have all been involved. So too have administrations, providing schools with support to keep open during the first term.

Half a million people make it possible for all city schools to open

The daily efforts and collaboration of the half a million people making up Barcelona’s educational community have enabled the city’s 900 schools to stay open. We’re talking about 300,000 students, 180,000 families, 20,000 teachers, 900 management teams, 1,000 support staff, 18,000 monitors, 9,000 cooking and cleaning staff, 2,500 PAS staff and 300 health professionals.

All these people continue to work together, as months without face-to-face education have shown it is essential for the socialisation process implicit in education.

The current evolution of the pandemic in the city’s educational sphere still involves low figures, and for the moment there has been no further rise in infections and isolating as there was in October.
