“Impulsem el que fas” focuses on local commerce and quality jobs

The ninth edition of the subsidy call “Impulsem el que fas” focuses on local commerce and generating quality jobs. The call has a budget of 2.5 million euros, distributed into eight categories, with the first three devoted to activating and protecting local shops and businesses. The application period is open until 15 July.

Natural persons (individual entrepreneurs) and legal persons with premises, a delegation or work centre in the municipality of Barcelona, duly constituted and operational at the time of application, can apply.

The amount of subsidies ranges from 8,000 to 30,000 euros depending on the category and may not exceed 80% of the cost of the project, which must last a maximum of 12 months and start during 2025.

Subsidies will be awarded through Barcelona Activa until the available budget for each category is used up, through a non-competitive procedure. The criteria to determine the award will be a draw, based on the municipal e-register number generated for the application.

Driving local commerce

The first category for “Impulsem el que fas” 2025  is to promote economic activity in empty ground-floor premises and market stalls. A second category has been added to activate municipal ground-floor premises that are currently empty.

The third seeks to diversify the economy and drive commerce and services in three of the zones defined as areas with large volumes of tourists (EGA): Sagrada Família, the area around Park Güell and the area around La Boqueria – Gardunya – Plaça Reial. It is divided into two sub-categories: one devoted to improving the competitiveness of existing local commerce and services of less than 200 square metres, and the other, to promote the installation of local economic activity in ground-floor premises.

Support for innovative and alternative projects

There are two new subsidy categories this year:

  • To foster social and technological solutions for the care of the elderly that promote a new care model, improve the efficiency and sustainability of services or foster an improvement in conditions for carers.
  • To support the professional growth of women in the spheres of enterprise, entrepreneurial consolidation and professional careers, helping to reduce gender inequalities in these spheres.

At the same time, three categories from previous calls are consolidated:

  • One to foster social and economic solidarity, as well as new economic initiatives with social impact and environmental positives.
  • One focused on fostering quality jobs in the area, specifically for the under 30s, women, migrants and the long-term unemployed aged over 50, provided they are affected somehow by vulnerability.
  • One for projects advancing towards more responsible consumerism, particularly to guarantee fair, healthy and sustainable eating in the city.
