The management of these services includes community health programmes for districts, schools and vulnerable groups, as well as the rollout of the action plan for drugs and addictions in the city.

At the same time, monitoring people’s state of health and its determining factors is mainly aimed at providing support for planning and assessment of health programmes and services, including the monitoring and control of transmissible illnesses, outbreaks and working health.

The agency also has the task of monitoring and controlling environmental quality, urban infestations and health risks resulting from foods and eateries. Its laboratory provides analytical support for monitoring and control programmes and offers its services to other administrations and organisations in the private sector.

The ASPB is a pioneering public health institution in research and teaching in this sphere.
