New labour support facility for young people

The Convent de Sant Agustí community centre in Ciutat Vella houses a leading new facility for young people: the Barcelona Activa Convent. The goal is to offer personalised labour support and training with tools and resources to address the current labour needs of the under-30s and help them find the help they need to find work or improve in their professional spheres.

With space of over 900 square metres and a capacity for 300 people, the Convent has been designed and remodelled with a modern look, with a fresh and easy feel to it. It is equipped with electronic devices and fully equipped technologically: suites for filming video curriculums, editing, interview rehearsal rooms, modular classrooms for networking, screens for sharing projects, advice sessions, meeting rooms and function rooms with innovative furnishings. The outside cloister, a communal space at the centre of the same name, can also be used to organise events.

One of the largest, most flexible and multiple-purpose spaces at the Convent will be Espai Jo+, where support will be managed for groups of young people and individuals alike. Barcelona Activa’s service for young people will offer a series of activities for professional guidance and job searches, with young people’s organisations jointly managing it.

Besides the facility and everything it offers, young people in the city will also have access to a group of specialists to address their needs and requirements taking into account current trends in the labour market.

Barcelona Activa provided support for over 10,000 people under the age of 30 in the period up to October 2022 (52% of them women), representing nearly a quarter of all support provided by the agency (23.6%).
