The Barcelona LGBTI Centre and the Association of Museology Professionals of Catalonia are organising a technical session on 22 June, from 9 am to 2.15 pm, to exchange experiences, establish understandings and develop ties between museums, organisations and groups with cultural projects that have an LGBTI perspective, all with an agile and innovative presentation format.

The meeting opens with the presentation “Now you’re looking this way: strategies and debates on the queerification of the museum”, by the artist and researcher Blanca Arias.

This will be followed by a series of different 10-minute presentations by museums, organisations and facilities from different districts of Barcelona.

Rather like a relay race, each participant will make their way around different points to give and receive information on a dozen projects, exchanging points of view and proposing alliances in a concise and recreational format.

Participating museums:  Museu Picasso de Barcelona, Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona, Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Museu Olímpic, Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, Museu Marítim de Barcelona

Participating museums:  Sants-Montjuïc, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu, Ciutat Vella, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

The session is particularly aimed at professionals from the cultural sector; those in charge of museum programmes, community centres and other facilities; activity organisers; staff specialising in equality and LGBTI rights, and activities with cultural and artistic projects.

Anybody wishing to take part should send an email before 18 June to inscripcions@centrelgtbibcn.org indicating their pronouns , name, surname and organisation, museum or collective.

This activity forms part of the “Orgull de Museus” programme, which aims to help cultivate a queer perspective and highlight realities that up to now have been either under-represented or excluded from dominant narratives. Through exhibitions, guided tours and workshops, the programme puts forward a perspective that takes into account sexual, affective and gender diversity in areas such as nature, sport, artistic creativity etc. More information and activities on the website: barcelona.cat/orgulldemuseus
