  • I’ve lost an object or a document in Barcelona. What can I do?

Get in touch with the Lost Property Office and ask for an appointment. There are two ways of doing this:

The office will check if they have your lost item. All objects and documents handed into the Lost Property Office are classified and listed using smart labels.

You can also cancel or check the requested appointment via the contact channels with the Lost Property Office.

  • I found some glasses and a wallet in the street. Where can I leave them?

You can hand them into the Lost Property Office by requesting an appointment as mentioned above.

Another way for getting lost objects to the office is to hand them in at any City Police station or to patrols from this corps operating in city streets.

  • How long are items kept by the Lost Property Office?

Lost items and documents are kept in the storage facility for the office for six months so that people can collect them, as set out in article 542-22 of act 5/2006 of Catalonia’s civil code.

After six months, if nobody claims the property, the person who found it has 30 days to claim it. In this case, the finder must produce the receipt issued by the office at the point they handed the item in.

  • Who can collect a lost object from the Lost Property Office?

The interested party or a person representing the owner or the finder of the item. In this case, the person collecting the item needs to provide signed authorisation.
