La Febrerada, the 1st Barcelona Social and Solidarity Economy Festival and Gathering, has released its line-up. In the morning, there will be discussions and talks at the Albareda Cultural Centre, such as the opening talk by the economist Pere Rusiñol. The evening party will take place to the beat of Carlota Flâneur, Rodrigo Laviña y su Combo, Las Bajas Pasiones and DJ Slimboy Flacko at Paral·lel 62, led by hosts Ana Polo and Oye Sherman. There will also be a live edition of the radio programme Carne Cruda.

The 1st Barcelona Social and Solidarity Economy Festival and Gathering is coming to town. The event, which will be held on 10 February, includes a morning of reflection and inspiration and a festive evening with shows and concerts to introduce the SSE to different audiences.

The Febrerada aims to create a meeting space for various initiatives, where the people involved can share challenges and further consolidate the social and solidarity economy in a coordinated manner. What’s more, the festival is intended to highlight the fact that the SSE is a reality in our city and is easy to incorporate into everyday activities. The SSE is now present in our neighbourhoods and districts, with products, services and activities which show that the city is already making an economy for life.

It will take place on 10 February at two different venues. The Albareda Cultural Centre will host the Gathering, with inspirational talks and several discussions on the impact and future challenges of the Social and Solidarity Economy. The opening talk will be given by Pere Rusiñol, an economist and journalist for the magazine Alternativas Económicas. The Gathering will take place from noon to 5.30 pm.

The SSE party will be held at Paral·lel 62. From 6 pm Ana Polo and Oye Sherman will get your pulse racing in an evening that will kick off with a live edition of Carne Cruda, a chat show about politics, society, humour and culture, followed by the concerts of Carlota Flaneur, Rodrigo Laviña y su Combo, Las Bajas Pasiones and DJ Slimboy Flacko, which will keep you dancing until midnight.

Entry is free and open to everyone, although prior booking for the Carne Cruda programme is required because venue’s technical needs mean there is a limited number of places.

Barcelona 2030 Strategy for the Social and Solidarity Economy

The Febrerada is part of the City Agreement for the Barcelona 2030 Social and Solidarity Economy Strategy. This agreement is the result of the hard work and commitment of Barcelona’s SSE community and the municipal SSE policies. It is the fruit of the joint efforts of 203 people and 147 SSE organisations, who generated over 500 proposals.

This space of the SSE and Barcelona City Council, through the Cooperative, Social and Solidarity Economy Services Directorate, promotes joint work and shared governance of the #ESSBCN2030 Strategy, in line with other, similar City Council spaces.

The process is now open for Barcelona SSE enterprises, initiatives and organisations to formalise their participation.
