the new section of the cycle lane on Av Diagonal, between Pius XII and the Faculty of Business Studies, is now in service. This completes work on the Av Diagonal cycle lane, improving it making it easier to connect with the Esplugues cycle lane.

The work has involved lowering the existing cycle lane from pavement to roadway in some stretches, and in others new separate, bi-directional cycling infrastructure has been created. For example, the lateral carriageway has been set aside for bicycles on the Pío XII – Pedralbes gardens, and the Pedralbes gardens – Faculty of Business Studies sections, areas where bicycles can circulate in both directions.

A new cycle lane has been created in front of the Pedralbes gardens, differentiated from the pavement, which has now been transformed into a space that is shared with pedestrians at the entrance to the gardens.

The work has also provided an opportunity to create a large number of parking spaces for bicycles, and widen the pavements between C/ John M. Keynes and the Faculty of Business Studies.

This new infrastructure forms part of Bicivia 7 and the Barcelona stretch of the Eurovelo 8 route.
