The name of the project devised by ETSAB is a play on words. A mirage is an optical phenomenon and also the result of combining the Catalan words mirall [mirror] and passatge [passage]. All that is found in this Mirage, which can be compared to a sophisticated version of the classic mirror mazes in amusement parks. It features an illusion as complex as a fata morgana effect and a playful concept relating to childhood in urban spaces. A passage — a walkway that collects and connects — leads to a block interior. This passage becomes an extraordinary action within a prismatic variable-section enclosure whose ceiling and floor are not two parallel planes and are therefore able to bounce light off each other infinitely , thanks to various angles of incidence. It is a kaleidoscopic space that plays with light, colour and reflections and where visitors become spectators and actors at the same time, while receiving and emitting colours.
