Casa de les Lletres - Pl. Dolors Piera (Sancho de Ávila, 135)

Author:
Nathalie Maufroy

The hands, reminiscent of a captive giant, delicately enter and exit through windows and doors, gently caressing the surface as if to grasp the exterior surrounding them with their fingertips. A tactile exploration of the urban surface. “Behind the Walls” proposes an encounter with a nocturnal urban fresco that creatively and poetically reimagines a piece of architecture, a façade, or a section of wall that would normally not arouse curiosity. A contemplative videomapping disarming in its simplicity yet deliberately disturbing our gaze, making a familiar landscape strangely unknown. This installation invites the viewer to experience a change in perspective, transforming the night into a canvas where hands become the brushes of a Gulliver seeking a tactile connection with the sleeping city. A sensory mapping that transcends the ordinary to reveal the hidden beauty behind each urban wall.

Nathalie Maufroy is a versatile artist, transitioning from scenography to visual arts and delving into video, photography, and sculpture. With a humanistic and choreographic approach, she encourages experimentation and seeks the universal in gestures. Her installations blend the living with the inanimate, encompassing furniture, everyday objects, and architectural spaces. Committed to urban art and public spaces, she creates participatory works and immersive interventions, capturing the essence of territories. Her works are characterised by outdoor video installations and a playful exploration of the human-environment relationship. Maufroy’s universe is both poetic and dramatic, blending sensitivity with experimentation. Her diverse experience in scenic creation offers a unique perspective on the representation of life in art, making her a distinctive figure in the contemporary artistic landscape.
