Light has been a fundamental element in the history of human progress, but it has also sometimes been used in perverse ways. On modern farms, something as sacred as maternal warmth has been snatched away from animals to be replaced by infrared lights that accelerate their growth, raising clear ethical questions about the artificial manipulation of life cycles. In this context, the installation Mother’s Love invites us to reflect on the paradox of having the ability (and almost the duty) to utilise technology and the resources at our disposal for progress, while at the same time having to consider limiting ourselves so as not to endanger the ecosystem we are trying to optimise.

In collaboration with Bridge 48.

With a career in the world of creativity, copywriting and user experience, Madrid-born, Barcelona-based Mario García focuses his artistic work on conceptual installations and an interest in exploring new possibilities of light through analogue approaches. He has been participating in ephemeral and urban art festivals for almost ten years and was the guest artist at the latest edition of Pinta Malasaña (Madrid), where he created a site-specific installation for the Condeduque courtyard.
