Jane Lazarre is a New York-based writer of fiction and nonfiction. She has taught writing and literature at multiple education centres. She is a member of the board of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol, an organization that assists children and young people, and she is an advisor for online literature magazine Persimmon Tree.

Her latest memoir is The Communist and the Communist's Daughter (2017), published by Duke University Press, which has also published her other memoirs, starting with The Mother Knot in 1997.
