La casa Gralla. El periple d'un monument

La mostra s’endinsa en el poder de representació social dels monuments –del patrimoni, en suma– a partir del cas singular de la trajectòria de la Casa Gralla des del Renaixement fins avui mateix. La Casa Gralla, situada al carrer de la Portaferrissa, va ser una de les més admirades de Barcelona per l’ornamentació escultòrica que des del segle XVI embellia la façana.

El seu prestigi es va mantenir al llarg del temps -la destacaven els llibres de viatges i de descripció dels monuments de la ciutat-, però això no la va salvar de l’enderroc, l’any 1856, per obrir el carrer Duc de la Victòria amb vista a la promoció immobiliària. La Casa Gralla va ser font d’inspiració per a l’arquitectura historicista fins al modernisme i les apostes successives per reconstruir-la tota o en part, han arribat fins a temps ben recents.

L’exposició mostra per primera vegada la col·lecció dels dibuixos extraordinàriament acurats de la façana, obra del pintor i escenògraf Francesc Soler i Rovirosa, així com el quadern de notes sobre la Casa Gralla de l’arquitecte Elies Rogent de 1856.
