Alberto Manguel, Ingrid Guardiola and Daniel Innerarity

In this dialogue, moderated by the writer and researcher Joaquín Rodríguez, Alberto Manguel, Ingrid Guardiola and Daniel Innerarity will discuss Una historia de la lectura (Alianza Editorial, 1996), Maimónides. Fe en la razón (Alianza Editorial, 2025), La servitud dels protocols (Arcàdia, 2025) and Una teoría crítica de la inteligencia artificial (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2025). A conversation about democracy in three areas: reading, technologies and protocols and artificial intelligence.

Alberto Manguel is a writer, translator and editor. He is a winner of the Formentor de las Letras (2017) and Gutenberg (2018) prizes and author of Una historia de la lectura (Alianza Editorial, 1996), En el bosque del espejo (Alianza Editorial, 2001), Noticias del extranjero (Alianza Editorial, 2002), Con Borges (Alianza Editorial, 2004), Diario de lecturas (Alianza Editorial, 2007), El sueño del Rey Rojo: Lecturas y relecturas sobre las palabras y el mundo (Alianza Editorial, 2012), Una historia natural de la curiosidad (Alianza editorial, 2015) and Mientras embalo mi biblioteca: Una elegía y diez digresiones (Alianza Editorial, 2017). His most recent books include Una historia de la lectura (Alianza Editorial, 2022), Leer imágenes (Alianza Editorial, 2022), La biblioteca de noche (Alianza Editorial, 2022), Guía de lugares imaginarios (Alianza Editorial, 2024) and Maimónides. Fe en la razón (Alianza Editorial, 2025).

Ingrid Guardiola is an essayist, audiovisual producer and cultural researcher. In 2017 she released her first feature-length documentary Casa de ningú (Boogaloo Films, Open Society Foundations, CCCB). She is the author of L’ull i la navalla (2018 – Serra d’Or Critics’ Award for Non-fiction) and Fils, un assaig sobre el confinament, la vigilància i l’anormalitat (Arcàdia, 2020). Her latest book is La servitud dels protocols (Arcàdia, 2025). 

Daniel Innerarity is a philosopher and researcher. He is the author of Politics in Times of Indignation (Boomsbury, 2018), The Democracy in Europe (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2018), Política para perplejos (2018), Comprender la democracia (Gedisa, 2018), A Theory of Complex Democracy (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2020), Pandemocracia. Una filosofía de la crisis del coronavirus (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2020), La sociedad del desconocimiento (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2022) and La libertad democrática (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2023). His latest book is Una teoría crítica de la inteligencia artificial (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2025).
