L’Auditori is located on the outskirts of the Eixample neighbourhood and was created by joining two blocks of houses, an approach typical of this urban area. The building’s compact structure complements its surroundings with the goal of bringing about a reshaping of the area that the other nearby buildings will have to complete later. The project design features a concrete-based structure that mirrors its urban form, while the auditorium, inside, reflects the purpose of this space. The seats are angled to facilitate a foreshortened view of the musicians, quite different from the viewing angles needed for plays. The two main halls, the auditorium and the rehearsal room, are separated by an outdoor space that highlights the social nature of music events and is covered by a large glass roof lantern decorated by the artist Pablo Palazuelos.
