Transforming Alzheimer’s disease management: innovative diagnostics for better patient quality of life
The objective is to achieve accurate and early diagnosis to initiate therapeutic interventions as soon as possible, and to stratify patient risk by identifying those most likely to progress to AD among the different stages of dementia.
Center: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
SENS4AD aims to achieve a precise and early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to enable timely therapeutic intervention and patient risk stratification. The project is developing an in vitro diagnostic (IVD) test based on the detection of exosomes from a plasma sample, using magnetic technology and electrochemical detection. This portable device, accessible for primary care, will allow the simple and cost-effective detection of biomarkers indicative of early signs of Alzheimer’s, thereby improving accessibility and reducing diagnostic costs. Expected outcomes include the early identification of patients at risk of developing Alzheimer’s, which will support the implementation of personalized treatments and improve patient quality of life while reducing large-scale healthcare costs.
