STUDY OF AN INVISIBILIZED POPULATION
Contexts of vulnerability among informal domestic care workers in Barcelona
The objective is to describe the contexts of vulnerability faced by informal domestic care workers (TICD) in Barcelona, assess their effects, and generate effective recommendations to improve their situation.
Center: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
This study examines the vulnerability contexts and their effects on informal domestic care workers (TICD) in Barcelona, a highly feminized and often invisibilized group. It aims to analyze working conditions, situations of violence and discrimination, and access to social, community, and health services, using an intersectional and gender-based perspective. The methodology follows a sequential mixed approach: a quantitative survey using the Respondent Driven Sampling method to study hard-to-reach populations, and qualitative focus groups to interpret data and identify needs. The findings will be shared in a dedicated event for reflecting on the care model for dependent individuals. Additionally, a recommendation report will be drafted to improve the living and working conditions of TICD, with the goal of promoting a more equitable and inclusive care system in Barcelona.
