Poster of the eighth edition of the Art Photo Bcn

Art Photo Bcn broadens its perspective

The festival consolidates the online version launched last year and, for the first time, gives space for the work of creators at different stages of their careers and lives.

The eighth edition of Art Photo Bcn will become a reality from July 23 to July 25 at the Arts Santa Mònica. For those new to the fair and festival, think of it as a meeting point between authors, the artistic circuit and contemporary photography lovers. The event has a double objective: to promote and strengthen the work of new creative talents, and to support galleries, exhibition halls, institutions and independent curators who are committed to bringing photography closer to the general and specialized public.

After last year's experience, where the event had to reinvent itself in response to the pandemic, online events have stayed part of the program. In 2021, Art Photo Bcn wants to build on the lessons learnt in 2020 by not only maintaining its virtual part but also strengthing it. For this reason, the program has included in-person elements as well as online ones. Yet, the most important addition to this edition is that this platform for novice photographers, used to showcase their work in front of specialists and gallery owners, is expanding its content proposal to include the work of creators at different stages of their lives and careers. And even better: for the first time, the Art Photo Bcn award will include a monetary prize of 2.000€, incentivizing the production of new quality projects beyond the curriculum of their authors.

Exhibitions, activities and workshops are part of the fair's schedule, which has been arranged keeping in mind the event's core values: with a renewed format, selected photographers will be offered networking sessions with gallery owners. In a relaxed atmosphere, authors will have the opportunity to present their projects and receive instant feedback on their work.
