Josep Maria Trias i Folch, Master of the Blanc! Festival
The Museu del Disseny is hosting the Blanc! Festival 2021 programme on October 21, 22 and 23.
The Museu del Disseny is celebrating a new edition of the Blanc! Festival, a date with design and creativity that hosts conferences, masterclasses and a range of diverse activities. The goal of the festival is to showcase the new talent and give recognition to the great design masters and pioneers of our country. This edition's programme, which will be celebrated virtually between October 21 and 23, will address topics like design, identity, wearables (electronic devices we can wear as clothing accessories) and biotechnology, illustration, design ethics and user experiences. The masterclasses will be conducted by Firma, Ariel Guersenzvaig and Raúl Marin. All events will be broadcast live from the Museum. This year, the Master of the Blanc!, a figure chosen as a living reference in the history of art in Catalonia, will be the graphic designer, painter and musician Josep M. Trias i Folch. During the festival's more than 10-year trajectory, names such as Paula Scher, Bruce Mau, Neville Brody, Alex Trochut and Ian Anderson have participated.
Trias i Folch (Barcelona, 1948), Josep M. Folch i Torres's grandson, is one of the founding members of the Associació de Dessenyadors Professionals (ADP), a state-wide association (1980-1982) as well as of, together with other designers, the Quod studio (1991). His works include the signs for the Barcelona railways (1982), the TV3 logo (1993) and the official logos for the Barcelona 1992 Olympic and Paralympic Games (1990). He has also been a professor in the Escola Massana, Elisava, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Copenhague Business School.
