Cirque du Soleil return to Barcelona with “Drailon”
The performance fuses Chinese acrobatics with the Quebec company’s uniquely personal style and can be seen in the Palau Sant Jordi from the 18th to the 29th of December
Almost two years after their last visit to Barcelona with a production entitled Corteo, Cirque du Soleil return with Drailon, a production which fuses more than three thousand years of traditional Chinese acrobatic art with the multidisciplinary approach, know-how and personal touch of the ever-popular Canadian company.
The performance can be seen from the 18th to the 29th of December in the Palau Sant Jordi and is inspired by oriental philosophy and the eternal search for harmony between mankind and nature. The title, Drailon, is a fusion of the names of two mythical creatures, the dragon and the lion, which, with respect to this thousand-year-old culture, are symbolic of the East and the West respectively.
The Cirque du Soleil company, who will soon be celebrating their thirtieth anniversary (Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier founded the company in 1984) present a fusion of colour and balance with, among other elements, juggling, trampolines, acrobatics, ropes and devils.
