We all eat, it is necessary to survive. But food is also a social event, it is art, and how we create it and consume it is important. If to all of that we add the unquestionable power of technology, many questions arise. They will be discussed on 7 July from 7 to 9.30 PM in the Mazda Space (Comercio 60, Barcelona). Price: 2 €.
The event will begin viewing Pamela Ronald 's TED Talk. Afterwards Marius Robles will present us various examples of companies who are already creating "artificial" food.
Pamela Ronald studies the genes that make plants more resistant to disease and stress. In an eye-opening talk, she describes her decade-long research to isolate a gene that allows rice to survive prolonged flooding. She shows how the genetic improvement of seeds saved the Hawaiian papaya crop in the 1990s and believes that modern genetics is sometimes the most effective method to advance sustainable agriculture and enhance food security for our planet’s growing population.
