“Django” and “Pulp Fiction” star in Phenomena, a homage to Tarantino

Committed to recovering big screen classics, this Thursday, the 17th of January, the Phenomena programme pays homage to director Quentin Tarantino. Under the title The Tarantino Experience, the classic spaghetti western Django (Sergio Corbucci, 1966) will be showing alongside the best known of the American director’s films, Pulp Fiction. Phenomena returns to the new Cine Comèdia venue, making it one of the city’s cinematographic events that attracts the biggest audience.

The original Django, played by Franco Nero, tells the story of a mercenary who seeks revenge in a small Mexican village. The film, originally banned in the UK due to the explicit violence it contains, served as the inspiration for one of the best known and most brutal scenes in the director’s career, the ear amputation scene in Reservoir Dogs. It also provided inspiration for the title of the new production, Django Unchained. With Pulp Fiction, on the other hand, the audience will have another opportunity to see one of the most important cult films of the 90’s. A celebration of popular references that tells the stories of two hired killers on the trail of mysterious briefcases.
