The Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers of the FAD is blowing 60 candles
They are celebrating it with an exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona with 80 posters created for the occasion.
In December 1961, the founding act of Grafistes FAD, which eventually became the Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers of the FAD (ADG-FAD), was signed. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the association has organised a very special exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, with about eighty posters created by members specifically for the occasion. Artists including Marc Català, Josep Maria Mir, Toni Miserachs, Ainhoa Nagore, Mariscal and the Bildi i Hey Studios have participated. It can be visited until 9 January.
The ADG-FAD wants the exhibition to showcase the current workings of the association, through which more than 5000 professionals have passed, but also pay tribute to the pioneers: Josep Pla-Narbona, Enric Huguet, Amand Domènech, Ernest Moradell, Eudald Serrasolsas i Humà, Ángel Grañena, Sebastián Rey Padilla, Tomás Vellvé, Josep Baqués, Francisco Graus and Joan Pedragosa. Their goal, as it was stated in the founding act, was to support and disseminate "everything that refers to the promotion and study of graphic art", which is still valid today. The ADG-FAD reminds us that its trajectory not only runs in parallel to the history of this discipline in our country "but also that it intervenes in it and, on occasions, plays a leading role in it". For example, back in 1964, the association organised the first edition of the Laus Awards. It is an award that has been a benchmark for the profession throughout the decades, and its ceremony has been and continues to be a meeting point for clients and designers to celebrate excellence.
