Fabra i Coats hosts the 8th edition of Eme3

The International Architecture Festival will be held from the 27th to the 30th of June

From the 27th to the 30th of June, the creativity factory, Fabra i Coats will host the 8th edition of Eme3. The objective of the festival is to discover, understand and share new forms of architecture and urbanism in relation to the current social reality. In order to effectively promote this idea, the organisers propose reflexion and exchange of ideas among professionals and the general public.

The concept of utopias becoming reality is the focal point of this year’s event, hence the title “Topias. Utopias Becoming Real”. The series of meetings and discussions will deal with subjects such as the use of public spaces, the evolution of the physical workplace and housing in times of crisis.

On the one hand, the festival will be hosting the Share-it section, which will exhibit 45 projects from 17 different countries and, on the other hand, the Build-it section, which will include dynamic presentations, workshops and debates with the participation of professionals from the sector.

The programmed subjects for debate include the opportunities and problems that may arise in a collaborative city, education and communication as a means of transforming utopias into realities, and participative architecture.

For example, on Saturday the 29th there will be a presentation of the book and documentary La Ciudad Jubilada (The Retired City), by Pau Faus, which deals with the self-constructed allotments on the outskirts of Barcelona and on Sunday the 30th, the LaCol collective will be speaking about the reappropriation of the Can Batlló complex by the residents of the area.
