‘FEMINISMS!’, two new exhibitions at CCCB
The centre is inaugurating “The Feminist Avant-Garde of the 1970s. Works from the VERBUND COLLECTION, Vienna” and “Choreographies of Gender”.
Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona strives to reinvent itself at all times, with ground-breaking, top-quality exhibitions that are also extremely interesting. Now they are inaugurating two new exhibitions under the umbrella name “FEMINISMS!” as a way to highlight the crucial contributions of the fight for equality and diversity of feminisms that have definitively changed the way we see the world.
One of them is “The Feminist Avant-Garde of the 1970s. Works from the VERBUND COLLECTION, Vienna” featuring over 200 works by 73 national and international women. Some of these include Birgit Jürgenssen, Ketty La Rocca, Fina Miralles, Àngels Ribé, Gina Pane, Martha Rosler and Martha Wilson, women who rewrote the canon of art history using languages and techniques such as photography, cinema, video, performance and happenings. We will also be able to see “Choreographies of Gender”, which features works by some of the many possible figures and movements in the dance of genders. It mainly focuses on our vision of the 70s, with the voice of artists who were not yet present on the artistic scene at the time. The show presents the work of Lúa Coderch, Núria Güell, Maria Llopis, Jesús Martínez Oliva, Linda Porn, Toxic Lesbian and Eulàlia Valldosera, among others. Both of these exhibitions will be on from 19 July to 5 January, Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 am to 8 pm, at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona.
The price of tickets for these exhibitions is €6. More information is available on the CCCB website.
