Fundació Pla Armengol has one of the largest collections of antique furniture in Europe

Guided tours of the Pla Armengol Foundation

The Foundation offers permanent tours every Thursday and Saturday morning.

The Ramón Pla Armengol Foundation, in honour of the doctor and pharmacy pioneer, combines three different areas: medical research aid, dissemination of Christianity and its collection of antique furniture. The three lines form the centre of the guided tours offered twice weekly by the institution, which was created in accordance with the instructions contained in the will left by Ramón Pla’s daughter, Núria Pla, who was also a doctor. She wanted to conserve her father’s legacy and his assemblage of over 800 pieces of antique furniture and decorative objects from the 14th to 19th century, which comprise one of most important collections in Europe.

The tours take place on Thursday and Saturday morning at three different times: 10.30 am, 11.30 am and 12.30 pm. Each one lasts for 50 minutes and are offered in Catalan and Spanish; English is only available upon prior request. The tours review the history of pharmacy in the city thanks to one of the most influential families of the 20th century, while at the same time you can deepen your knowledge by studying the hundreds of decorative items that are distributed around the house.

The tours cost €8.00 per person and have to be booked in advance by sending an email to reservas@sternalia.com or phoning 93 321 01 25. Further information is available at the organisers’ website.
