
Jazz tot el dia
L’Auditori is hosting the second edition of Marató de Jazz, a free event dedicated to showcasing the country's jazz talents.
No matter how much you like jazz, on Saturday, 10 May, you have a plan: head to L’Auditori and enjoy a host of talents from the jazz scene who start playing free of charge at 5 p.m. and will go on late into the night.
This is an unmissable event for anyone who wants to enjoy five hours of uninterrupted jazz with some of the best-known names on the jazz scene in Barcelona and beyond.
It all starts at 5 pm with a composer and pianist from Saragossa based in Barcelona, Daniel Ferruz, who will present a new album entitled Un presente, accompanied by musicians and friends Joan Mas (sax), David Mengual (double bass) and Adrià Claramunt (drums). One hour later (6 p.m.) Lucas Martínez, a tenor saxophonist from Blanes, takes the floor to present his compositions inspired by his travels and stays in other countries. He is accompanied on stage by Roger Santacana (piano), Giuseppe Campisi (double bass) and Lluís Naval (drums).
A great of the contrabass, Javier Colina, will be the protagonist at 7 p.m., with a performance with the pianist Albert Sanz. Together they present Sinhá, a repertoire of Brazilian themes. The duet has toured the world and they have been applauded with enthusiasm everywhere, come and see why. A champion of the contrabass and a master of melody, together.
A key figure on the current jazz scene in Catalonia, Irene Reig will perform on stage at L’Auditori at 8 p.m. accompanied by Xavi Torres (piano), Martin Leyton (double bass) and Andreu Pitarch (drums). North American jazz tunes in search of a reading of our times.
The show ends at 9 p.m. with the trumpet of Raynald Colom, one of the most international jazz figures on the local scene, who takes all kinds of interpretative risks with enlightening results. You will feel it with José Benítez (drums) and Martín Meléndez (cello).
