Jeb Patton Trio brings his jazz to Jamboree
The virtuoso pianist will be accompanied by Ignasi González on the double bass and Roger Gutiérrez on drums.
He’s faithful to the jazz tradition embodied by figures like Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington and Jimmy Heath, as well as the hard bop styles of Tommy Flanagan and Horace Silver though, at the same time, his music sounds bright and contemporary. Jeb Patton was born in Kensington (Maryland, USA) in 1974 and is still considered to be a "young phenomenon". His skills at improvisation and his expressiveness on stage are two distinctive features of this Duke University and Aaron Copland School Music-trained musician, who was awarded the Louis Armstrong Prize by the ASCAP Foundation.
Patton will visit Barcelona on Friday 30 March to perform two sessions at Jamboree. He won’t be alone on the stage: bassist Ignasi González and drummer Roger Gutiérrez will complete his talent-packed trio. Patton emerged onto the international scene in the 1990s performing with the Heath Brothers and the Jimmy Heath Generations Quintet. Since then, he has appeared at major festivals and has also participated in a multitude of studio recordings, either as the leading artist or as a collaborator. Live, he has performed with Etta Jones, Paul West, Charles McPherson and Winard Harper, among others.
