Landscape, architecture and borders, in the next exhibitions at the KBr
The photographic centre on Litoral Avenue is hosting the exhibitions ‘A propósito del paisaje’, by José Guerrero and ‘Bravo’, by Felipe Romero Beltrán.
Images of nature, but also artificial landscapes built by man and the tension and conflict that are a permanent feature of the border between Mexico and the USA. These are the themes of the two exhibitions that you can see in the KBr space and which are signed by the photographers José Guerrero and Felipe Romero Beltrán.
Everything happens at KBr, a space with a name that responds to the chemical symbol of potassium bromide, a salt used in analogue photographic development. The aim of the centre is to contribute to the understanding and extension of photographic language by organising exhibitions dedicated to great names in photography, among many other activities.
The next exhibitions, from 15 February to 18 May, will bring to the walls of KBr the images of a photographer with a career spanning nearly twenty years. He is José Guerrero, an artist from Granada who was born in 1979 and who, with the images of ‘A propósito del paisaje’ reflects on the representation and perception of landscape and architecture in the photographic image.
You have seen him taking pictures in places of great iconographic and historical significance, such as the Manx, Carrara, Sierra Nevada and the Tàmesi river. In his gaze, the landscapes become living entities on which the cultural memory of those who see them is projected, but also the photographer's use of light, colour and atmosphere. The result is a poetic reading, full of additional meanings of a space that ends up feeling much more than that.
The second exhibition opening at the KBr is ‘Bravo’, a photographic series shot by a Colombian artist born in 1992: Felipe Romero Beltrán. Always showing images of conflict, this time, the artist focuses on a stretch of the Bravo river, which for almost a thousand kilometres marks the border between Mexico and the USA. This is a visual assault, without excesses and with poetic elements, on the idea of waiting and border identity.
