Matèria': art and science at CCCB

Audiovisual performance by Maotik and conversation with Lucía Aballe, researcher at the ALBA Synchrotron.

At times, it may seem that they are unrelated compartments, but in reality art and science can establish synergies of special power. This is demonstrated by a digital artist called Mathieu Le Sourd, or Maotik, as you prefer, who presents a live performance and a live conversation with Lucía Aballe, a researcher who works at the ALBA Synchrotron in Cerdanyola del Vallès.
The proposal is part of the CCCB's cycle of activities Radical Science, which proposes activities that bring together science, humanity and arts, and is led by the researcher, cultural producer and cycle commissioner Irma Vilà i Òdena.

She will present Maotik and her proposal, entitled Matèria, at Sala Teatre of the CCCB. It is an audiovisual performance during which you can pass in real time through the four fundamental states of matter: solid, liquid, gas and plasma. Le Sourd uses generative visuals and synchronised sound designs to create live musical and visual compositions (in collaboration with Nicolás Espinoza, Adam Legg and Pandelis Diamantedis), which are inspired by the passage of the sound waves through the different media. In fact, the experience consists of translating a series of scientific concepts into sensorial stimuli.

The performance will last about forty minutes, after which Maotik will have a conversation with Lucía Aballe, who is head of the interdisciplinary and multimodal science section of the ALBA Synchrotron, as well as coordinator of projects related to the creation of advanced materials.

If you want to experience live and direct the special connection between science and art, don't miss Maotik's performance and her talk with Lucía Aballe, but before you come check the CCCB website for all the information about the activity.
