Improvisation, humour and a murder mystery at Barts
'Murder at the Club' by Impro Barcelona brings you the four different versions of the same play on four Sundays in January.
There are not many plays that you can go to see four times and watch four different versions. But that’s exactly what Impro Barcelona, a group that bases its performances on absolute improvisation, is offering on four Sundays in January at Barts. When the curtain rises on Murder at the Club, the actors don’t know who will end up dead, who the murder is or when and how the murder will take place. Without a script, scenery or costume, they become dramatists, directors and performers, all at the same time. The audience will also play a vital role in the drama by taking decisions when appropriate.
What you’re sure to find at every performance is improvisation, humour, since that is one of the defining characteristics of Impro Barcelona productions, and, in this case, a mystery involving crime and detective work The company was founded in 2014 with 13 performers that were already part of Planet Impro, and has brought shows such as Impro Show, Impro Fighters and Zzapping to the city’s stages.
